Hey Guy and Happy Design Tip Tuesday! As I was trying to determine what route to take with today’s post, I realized that we are less than two weeks away from Thanksgiving, and I CANNOT believe where the time went. It feels like Matt and I were moving in to our apartment just yesterday, but apparently that is not the case. It has been more than two months. As I mentioned in this Sunday’s Adventure Blog (HERE), I love this holiday season! Thanksgiving into Britney’s birthday (the most important holiday clearly) into Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza, and New Years are some of the most exciting times of the year; however, they can also be the busiest and most stressful if you aren’t prepared. Tasks like decorating or laying out the perfect Thanksgiving Tablescape can be a treat or an absolute chore if you don’t know what you’re doing. As a result, I decided that now is the perfect time to offer up a few tips for setting up a beautiful tablescape for the holiday season. Since there are so many different routes you can go while designing a table, I have decided to divide the post into subcategories to teach readers basic rules as well as how to achieve specific looks! Read on under the jump to see what advice I would offer up and then get to work putting your table together!Continue reading
Take a few minutes to get illuminated (punny light joke intended here) on a new lighting product that is sweeping the interior design market, Infinity Lights! I stumbled across the product on vacation two years ago and immediately fell in love with the innovative design. Infinity Lights are lampshades created using interlocking, quadrilateral pieces of polypropylene material. They can be configured in an infinite number of different shapes, though the most popular and commonly seen is the sphere. These beautiful lights come in a variety of different colors and are super simple to assemble. One standard kit comes with 30 pieces and a hanging cord, and instructional videos for the most common configurations can be found on the companies website.
Infinity Lights are truly unique pieces that offer endless opportunities to create interesting features in your home or business! They can be manipulated into so many different shapes and come in so many different color combinations that they are literally the perfect solution if you are looking for an interesting light piece. The best thing about Infinity Lights is that they are so incredibly versatile. The product can be used both inside and outdoors, on existing light fixtures or on their own, and they are such unique pieces. This is truly a product that is fully customizable for each individual user, and there are so many benefits to that. Tell me that these would not be the perfect addition to an eclectic design, and I won’t believe you (read more about eclecticism HERE).
For more information about the product, check out the company’s website HERE! The site includes a images, instructional videos, and an online store where you can order your own pieces. As an added bonus, if you don’t want to assemble your piece on your own, you can actually purchase a fully assembled light for a small up charge! Check the site out and get creating!
Personally, I already own an Infinity Light in shades of turquoise, blue, and white. I used mine in my apartment at school last year, and it was such an interesting addition to my home! I would love to purchase a few more pieces and hang them en masse from the ceiling to create a captivating light installation in my home. I love the way that these shades really glow and create a beautiful, diffused light for a room. They are not overly bright and glaring, but instead they offer a gentle aura and understated light.
Now that you have seen Infinity Lights do you feel inspired? Let me know in the comments below if you have encountered this product before, and if so if you already own one! I’d love to see pictures of the various ways people use these lights so don’t hesitate to send pictures!
